A man remains under police guard tonight as investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding a woman’s death at a Penrith hotel earlier today.
Emergency services were called to a hotel on Mulgoa Road at around 1:10 pm on Sunday, after a woman’s body was found in one of the rooms alongside a man with serious injuries.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was discovered with deep cuts to his arms. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated him at the scene before he was airlifted to Westmead Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police have yet to formally identify the woman, and her cause of death is under investigation.
Officers from Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene, with detectives from the command and the Homicide Squad now leading inquiries into the incident.
