New Draft Flood Plan Raises Tough Questions for Hawkesbury CommunityFlood mitigation measures being proposed by Hawkesbury Council

Hawkesbury Council has released the Draft Hawkesbury Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan 2025, outlining major recommendations to tackle future flood risks in our community.

We’re digging through the details ourselves, but what stands out immediately is the potential impact on property owners who could find themselves on the downside of new flood planning levels and planning rules.

You have until December 9 to make submission - it’s online at https://www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au

Council is also holding info sessions where you can ask questions: Richmond Oval on October 12 (4pm - 9pm), North Richmond Shopping Village on October 24 (11am - 1pm), Wilberforce School of Arts on October 30 (10:30am - 12:30pm), and Windsor Mall on November 30 (5pm - 9pm).

The study's brief was to look at the consequences of flooding on the community and measures to mitigate flood risks and impacts. See what you think. Measures investigated are outlined in the picture.
