Man Charged With Murder of Girlfriend at PenrithDarren John Berry has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend

A man has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend after her body was found at the Pullman Hotel in Penrith on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to a hotel on Mulgoa Road about 1.10pm on Sunday 10 November 2024, after the discovery of the body of Shirley So, in the same room as a man suffering cuts to his arms.

The man 53-year old Darren John Berry was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital for further treatment.

Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene, with inquiries conducted by local detectives, assisted by State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Following inquiries under Strike Force Marree, detectives yesterday charged Berry with murder.

He was refused bail at a bedside Court hearing today (Tuesday 12 November 2024) and will appear before Penrith Local Court today.
