The ex-partner of former Mayor Sarah McMahon has addressed questions from the Hawkesbury Post this evening, following the withdrawal of a police-issued Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO) against her. Bennett’s full response is provided below.
McMahon had been under the constraints of the domestic violence order since July when police alleged she unlawfully accessed Bennett’s business premises and accessed his computer. No charges were laid against McMahon over the incident.
Statement from Matthew Bennett
"Samantha
My last contact with Windsor Police was in late October when they requested me to attend Blacktown Court in February 2025 as a witness for them against Miss McMahon.
My solicitor and I were not aware of a court hearing today. As the person protected by this ADVO, it is extremely disappointing that I have not been contacted by Windsor Police about today’s hearing or decision."
I only became aware of this decision when friends informed me of the Hawkesbury Post article and Miss McMahon’s social media announcement.
I chose to end my relationship with Miss McMahon.
I am greatly disappointed that Miss McMahon once again used Facebook for our private, personal matters.
When Windsor Police found Miss McMahon on my business premises without permission, I chose not to make a statement.
I hope that all parties will respect my privacy during this time."
