Welcome to the Bilpin Fruit Bowl
The Bilpin Fruit Bowl is proudly owned and operated by Simon & Margaret Tadrosse. It is the most iconic business in the Hawkesbury district. It has been owned by us since 1985. We have 4 children, 3 daughters and one son, who were all born into the business and now with all their help we all manage both the orchard and the shop. Our daughters help control and run the shop full time, they make all the apple pies, meat pies, cakes, slices, scones, while our son now works on a part time basis on the farm. We also have our 13 year old grandson who also helps out extensively both in the farm and shop.
OUR SHOP
The Fruit Bowl shop is open 7 days a week from 8.00 am till 5.00pm. We only close on Christmas Day. In our shop we stock local honey, local home made jams, souvenirs, cider from local cellar doors, apple juice, candles, pottery, fresh fruit and seasonal summer fruits and lots more. We bake all our very famous, very popular Apple Pies, meat pies, cakes, scones and slices on the premises. In Summer we also sell Peach pies made from peaches grown in our orchard. When other fruits are in season such as cherries, blueberries, mangoes, apricots and raspberries you can also be tantalised with one of these fresh baked pies. We also have soft serve ice cream made from our strawberries picked fresh from the farm.
OUR FARM
Now that we have completed the largest Pick your own Strawberry farm in the Hawkesbury with just under 100,000 strawberry plants, we are endeavouring to have it open every weekend all year round for strawberry picking. If we have an abundance of strawberries, we will also open during the week. This will be advertised on our FB page. We have 2 hothouses which are both now fully operational each one being on one acre. The fruit in theses hothouses and on our farm is ALLPick your own.
We grow lots and lots of other fruits which will be available for picking between end of November and end of June. We have weekly Facebook updates advising each week what is available for picking. Pick your own Strawberries is in covered hothouses so is an all-weather activity. We also grow chemical free vegetables such as zucchini, squash, cucumbers, eggplants, broccoli, chillies, capsicum, and red and green lettuce. (keep watching our FB page for updates). We have a large rescue chicken shed where we have rescued over 400 chickens and roosters. The chickens are great layers and roam around our farm during the day. We sell eggs from these chickens in both our shop and farm shop.
